Salvage of First Ray with Sever Hallux Valgus, Gout, and Osteomyelitis

Gout is a painful and destructive process. In its most severe form, affected joints can become degenerative and deformed. Gouty tophi, or masses composed of precipitated uric acid crystals, can collect in the soft tissues. This, combined with deformity, can result in ulceration and infection. The distal extremities are most commonly affected, especially the big toe.
