Salvage of Infected Tibio Talo Calcaneal Fusion

Tibiotalocalcaneal (TTC) arthrodesisTibiotalocalcaneal (TTC) arthrodesis is utilized to treat end-stage arthritisArthritis and deformity of the hindfoot and ankle. A number of internal fixation methods can be utilized, including hindfoot nails, lateral plates, anterior plates, posterior plates, and screws alone. These procedures are typically performed in older populations with multiple other comorbidities. One complication of these extensive procedures is wound breakdown and infection. When this occurs, it presents a significant challenge to the treating surgeon and often results in amputation. This case illustrates one method of limb salvage in an acute post-operative infection and avoid and amputation.
