Percutaneous Osteotomy of the Proximal Femur for Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis
摘要
A 12 year old obese female presented with a severe slipped capital femoral epiphysis deformity resulting in leg length discrepancy and decreased hip range of motion. While a subtrochanteric osteotomy provides less anatomic correction than a femoral neck osteotomy, it is believed to have a lower risk of avascular necrosis of the femoral head. Percutaneous subtrochanteric osteotomy with external fixation involves less surgical morbidity than open procedures with internal fixation while providing satisfactory radiographic and clinical outcomes.
