Severe Equino-Varus Foot and Ankle Deformity from Compartment Syndrome. TSF to Correct Deformities followed by Tendon Transfer

  • Marie Gdalevitch

摘要

This case demonstrates the use of external fixation to correct severe equinovarus deformity of the ankle that was caused by a Vulpius contracture of the anterolateral compartment of the leg. Acute deformity correction is more dangerous in such cases since the posteromedial neurovascular structures would be significantly lengthened during the correction. It is important to recognize that this deformity was caused by a muscular imbalance between the posteromedial musculature in the leg and the lack of anterolateral muscles. Therefore, once correction is achieved, appropriate tendon transfers are necessary to maintain the correction.Compartment syndrome
