THR and Femur Osteotomy for Tuberculosis Induced Deformity

This case illustrates an approach to an older adult with pain and deformity arising from childhood tuberculous septic hip infectionTuberculous septic hip infectionchildren managed with fusion. Notable concepts in her care were to prioritize the identification and treatment of the source of her other deformities and pain (her hip) and to treat her hip as potentially still infectious. This patient’s care featured a modular total hip replacement, retrograde femoral nail deformity correction, and prophylactic as well as therapeutic antibiotic administration.
