Proximal Femur Malunion After Intramedullary Nailing Treated with Deformity Correction with a Blade Plate

  • Hobie Summers

摘要

A 76-year-old female sustained an intertrochanteric femur fracture treated with an intramedullary nail at an outside institution 14 months prior to presentation. She developed a symptomatic varus malunion with lateral hip pain, a limp, and leg length discrepancy. She was treated with hardware removal and a valgus intertrochanteric osteotomy fixed with a blade plate. This case illustrates how to take a common proximal femoral deformity after intertrochanteric femur fracture and correct it with an osteotomy and fixation with a blade plate.
