Correction of Cubitus Varus Using Hexapod
摘要
Cubitus Varus is a potential sequela of malunion of elbow fractures. It presents with an unsightly elbow appearance with varus and often also flexion and rotational components; functional impairments can also manifest. Therefore, it is a complex 3-dimensional condition that should be treated. The longstanding standard treatment has been osteotomy and acute correction through a lateral approach. However, complications and inaccuracy of correction are common with that surgical strategy. HexapodHexapod external fixators allow the correction of deformities in all planes with computer accuracy. The Herzenberg technique of half-pin placement allows correction even in young children without risking damaging the distal humerus growth plate.
