Where Have All the Flowers Gone? A Restless Past
摘要
This chapter reflects on Gloria Miqueles’ experience as an exile during Chile’s dictatorship, highlighting her journey through detention, torture, and eventual escape from Chile. It details her forced exile after being detained by the National Intelligence Directorate/Dirección Nacional de Inteligencia, the support she received from the World University Service (WUS), and the role of organisations like Academics for Chile in helping political refugees. The author describes her arrival and adaptation to life in the UK, her pursuit of higher education with WUS support, and her return to Chile, where she worked at the Institute of Nutrition and Food Technology. The chapter concludes with reflections on the significance of memory, gratitude to WUS and Academics for Chile, and the enduring fight for justice for victims of the dictatorship.
