Introduction
摘要
This book explores the causes, nature and consequences of the extraordinary contagion of anti-Jewish violence and mass conversion that spread across the Spanish kingdoms in 1391. The introduction sets out the structure of the argument and the historiography of the subject; the political make-up of the various territories involved; and the history of the Jews in Iberia, along with their socio-economic and legal status, demographics and areas of residence. It includes a brief discussion of the attitude of the Church to the conversion of the Jews.
