Effects and Impact of COVID-19 on Global Finance and Economies

The assessment of the overall performance of a company is in most academic work based on the measurement of five dimensions (financial, social, societal, environmental, and organizational performance). The aim of this chapter will therefore be, in the context of this research project, to provide an extensive and detailed analysis of the existing literature on the analysis of these five performances. With particular attention to the two regions protagonist of this project: Gaziantep and Chisinau. The aim was to compare the efficiency of production factors of SMEs operating in the agricultural and food sector in Gaziantep and Chisinau regions compared to pre-epidemic and post-epidemic values. The results of the analysis should allow policy makers to provide answers that will encourage them to develop a new strategy to support SMEs. The results obtained should also allow SMEs to develop an effective action plan in the fight against COVID to limit their performance losses as much as possible and optimize their growth. The pandemic has highlighted the importance of psychotechnical integration of employees. Given the global impact of COVID on the economies of countries, such as Turkey or Moldova, beyond support and aid programs for SMEs, SMEs must be encouraged to invest in new technologies, make the creation of new products and new services more attractive and strengthen the managerial skills of SMEs so that they are more competitive at the national and international level. Expecting public authorities to provide subsidies or loans at preferential interest rates for SMEs seems utopian. It also seems important for the sustainability and openness to the world of Turkish and Moldovan SMEs to develop awareness campaigns on the advantages of ISO standards in terms of the environment.
