Physical frailty associated with a decrease in muscle and bone mass leads to vulnerability in the elderly, with a consequent increase in the risk of falls and fractures, leading to greater dependence, progressive functional decline and a deterioration in quality of life. This study aims to characterize elderly people with hip fracture on their return home. This was a quantitative, descriptive and exploratory study. The sample was non-probabilistic, consist of people aged 65 or over with a proximal hip fracture who have been admitted to the hospital. The questionnaire that was administered includes socio-demographic characterization, clinical characterization, the Morse Scale, the Falls Efficacy Scale (FES), the Time Up and Go Test (TUGT), the Sit to Stand Test, the 10m walk test, the Bergs Balance Scale; the Barthel ADL Index, and the Medical Outcomes Study 36-item Short Form Health Survey (SF-36). Data processing and analysis were based on statistical and inferential analysis, using SPSS 29. The results of this study protocol will make it possible to characterize the elderly person with a proximal femur fracture on their return home and, consequently, generate knowledge that will guide the development of strategies that provide a return to the functional state prior to the fracture and, at the same time, increase safety in order to prevent another fall.
