With English being a dominant language in the world today, proficiency in the English language is essential for individuals to access global opportunities, partake in international events and activities. English Language Teaching or ELT refers to the practice of skilfully teaching English to the non-native speakers. However, conventional ELT techniques are now becoming less effective due to the overuse of technology, leading to a sharp decline in English Language Teaching. The folklore and the culture of a particular region are of much importance when it comes to leveraging English Language Teaching skills. In Odisha, a state renowned for its rich cultural diversity, traditional folklore plays a major role in preserving its heritage. Starting with selected folktales and performing arts such as Pala, Jatra, and Kandhei Naacha, there are also several commonly used Odia proverbs that offer a wide range of authentic and culturally immersive content that can help in enhancing English Language Teaching and Learning. By incorporating multimedia sources such as YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram with reference to the selected performing arts and frequently used proverbs of Odisha, English Language instruction can become more effective than usual. These platforms help gain knowledge both about the cultural heritage and the English language in an interactive format via social media pages and YouTube videos. With the help of this paper, we aim to bridge the gap between traditional cultural content and contemporary educational technology, thereby making English language learning more engaging and effective through the use of technology.
