Multimedia mode of education is an outcome of globalisation of technology. It is an audio visual mode of learning which can be imparted via online mode. The fundamental idea behind multimedia learning is that when words and images are combined, we may learn more thoroughly than when we only use words. In the present day, people and researchers use various online platforms like YouTube to learn a topic. ZOOM and Google meet are commonly used to conduct meetings with people irrespective of their location. When a beginner learns to knit, watching a skilled knitter make a scarf and hearing their spoken explanations aids with comprehension. The fundamental idea is so clear-cut and basic that we like to choose textbooks with lots of maps, charts, diagrams, and illustrations. Teachers use various online platforms like Canvas to prepare their PowerPoint presentations, video lectures that are available online to make their classes more impactful. However, there are certain apprehensions that all the multimedia technologies used in education may not be that effective. Therefore, the basic objective of this chapter is to make an analysis of the Cognitive theory of multimedia learning of Richard Mayer.
