Loading and Temperature Rise for Transformers and Reactors in Service

This chapter describes some of the issues relating to loading and temperature rise for transformers and reactors in service. It has a special focus on recent developments allowing better use of temperature rise test results for understanding and predicting thermal behaviour in operation. The chapter describes different methods for analysis of liquid and winding temperature rise results, and presents experimental results from trials on ester-immersed distribution transformers.
