Transformer Bushing and Terminal Condition Assessment

This chapter presents an overview of the methods used for bushing and terminal condition assessment. It begins by considering the different types of bushings and terminals used with transformers and reactors, with special emphasis on capacitance graded bushings for high voltage applications (above 52 kV class). It continues by considering the effect of bushings and terminals on transformer and reactor reliability and safety. The main part of the chapter is a detailed consideration of different bushing condition assessment and condition monitoring techniques. Finally, the chapter concludes with a brief review of condition assessment techniques used for cable boxes.
