Overheating of Transformers and Reactors in Service

This chapter provides an overview of how transformers and reactors may overheat in operation. Consideration is given to possible effects on transformer and reactor reliability and safety. The main parts of this chapter detail the various overheating faults and their effects along with detailed consideration of how these can be diagnosed using different condition assessment and monitoring techniques.
