摘要

This chapter introduces my book by immediately addressing the interdisciplinary nature of this study not by comparing and contrasting with solid definitions but by blurring the edge between the boundaries of the two disciplines. Following that, and with the blurring in mind, I lay some groundwork for principles like applied drama, person-centred nursing, sympathetic presence, and more which are then explored in more detail throughout the rest of the book. What drama and nursing are, how they relate, and the context both find themselves in as disciplines are also explored here. Including more specific definitions of what applied drama is, and likewise what person-centred nursing is. A summary of my PhD study which serves as an origin of this text is given to provide background to the following work. This background is unfolded further with explorations on the notion of evidence across the two disciplines, and finally a positioning of me as a researcher and practitioner. This chapter aims to provide the reader with a sense of the key principles at play in the book and how they enmesh. Mostly, this chapter aims to provide readers with a fuller appreciation of the specific context of this study and why that is important for Person-Centred Research.
