A Study of Biophilic Design and Resilience in Malabar Region: An Innovation Towards Organizational Sustainability

Based on people’s innate love for nature, biophilic design aims to incorporate natural elements into built environmentsBuilt-environment to promote effectiveness and well-being. The incorporation of biophilic principles stands out as an innovative development in the context of organizational sustainability Organizational sustainability (HSR)and GHRM fostering a sense of connection with nature that facilitates ecological symbiosis such as bionomics, person–environment fit towards the readiness to disasterDisaster and risk management. This study investigates how elements of biophilic design, such as sunlight, gravitational features, curves, colour, water, life, representations of nature, fractals, and organized complexity, support improved psychological restoration and foster an HSR (healthy, sustainable and resilient) workplace. Following the purposive sampling method, the study used a sample of 150 employees working in corporate organizations based in the Malabar region because of its socio-geographic significance and ecological interface. The study followed a correlational research design, and statistical methods including Pearson’s correlation and simple regression analysis were used to see the relationship between the study variables, biophilic designs and psychological restoration. Results have shown a significant positive correlation between biophilic designsBiophilic designs (measured by biophilic index) and psychological restoration and its dimensions fascination, being away and compatibility at (p ≤ 0.01) level of significance. Also, biophilic design has shown prediction with psychological restoration and its dimension. In conclusion, organizations can become more functional and adaptable by implementing biophilic measures, promoting a healthier environment, more resilient urban structures, and better resilient outcomes for employees.
