Retinoblastoma: Aqueous Biomarkers Clinical Ophthalmic Oncology
摘要
Precision oncology is rapidly redefining cancer care with the aim of incorporating molecular tumor information into clinical decision-making. Liquid biopsies have emerged as a powerful tool for this model, allowing for repeated real-time molecular profiling of cancers with the advantage of being minimally invasive. In retinoblastoma, contraindications to tumor biopsy have limited the clinical application of genomic information for this tumor, creating a need for the establishment of a liquid biopsy platform. The aqueous humor has been demonstrated to carry tumor-derived molecular information, paving the way for the identification of biomarkers of clinical utility.
