Retinoblastoma: Emerging Medical Techniques

The treatment of retinoblastoma has drastically advanced over the last several decades. Localized delivery techniques of chemotherapeutic agents have improved globe salvage rates and enhanced vision preservation. Despite these advances, there remains a significant occurrence of adverse effects following chemotherapy. The focus has shifted towards developing drugs and immunotherapies that can target novel molecular pathways. We describe the landscape of modern retinoblastoma treatment with regard to the techniques and therapies. We also examine emerging approaches from preclinical and clinical trials that show promise for future treatments.
