摘要

In the management of retinoblastoma, episcleral plaque brachytherapy (EPB) is one of several modalities used to treat focal lesions either as primary therapy for smaller tumors (Group B) or in conjunction with intravenous chemotherapy after chemoreduction of larger focal lesions (Groups C–D). The technique is analogous to the one commonly performed for uveal melanoma. The recommended dose to the tumor apex is 45 Gy. Reported local control rates range between 79% and 94% at five years. Radiation retinopathy is the most common visually threatening complication, especially in those patients undergoing chemotherapy.
