Characteristics of Nigerian Political Parties
摘要
This chapter examines the characteristics of Nigerian parties in the Fourth Republic based on the behaviours they exhibit. Some of these identified behaviours are ethnicity, regionalism and power tussle, internal conflicts and electoral politics. Interestingly, the chapter shows that almost all the parties registered in the Nigerian Fourth Republic from 1999 to date exhibit similar characteristics, albeit to varying degrees, with the ruling parties of the APC and PDP showing more audacity to the identified habits than the oppositionOpposition and the smaller parties.
