A Conceptualisation of Political Parties

In this chapter, the basic concepts and explanations of the recurring terms in the book are explained in detail. The chapter provides a general overview of conceptualised terms such as the meaning of political parties, types of party systems, party organisation, institutionalisation of parties, functions of parties, ideology and theorisation of political parties. While the global concepts are explored from different angles, the chapter also devotes considerable attention to the Nigerian context, which is the area of enquiry.
