Conclusions: Mobility Citizenship Constellations

  • Chris Moreh

摘要

This brief concluding chapter reviews and connects the main points put forward in the previous chapters, arguing that the empirical case studies presented before are telling of a more general story about the transformations undergone in the concept and valuation of citizenship. It restates the main message of the book, namely that contemporary citizenship has been mobilised in such a way that it is teleologically aimed at developing the most comprehensive mobility opportunity structures. The logic of ‘mobility citizenship’ is thus changing long-held perceptions around the social functions of citizenship and, consequently, the nature of contemporary transnational society.
