Patient Position and General Setting in Total Hip Arthroplasty
摘要
In this chapter the most common surgical approaches for total hip arthroplasty (THA) are described: direct lateral, posterior, and direct anterior. Patient positioning impacts implant placement, limb length monitoring, and surgical access. In this chapter, anesthesia options are also discussed, highlighting the benefits of regional anesthesia over general anesthesia. Detailed protocols for positioning patients in lateral and supine decubitus are provided, including the use of pads and belts to stabilize the patient and ensure optimal surgical conditions. Surgical preparation and draping techniques are described in order to minimize infection risks and describes the ideal operating room and surgical team layout for THA procedures.
