Conclusion

Chapter 9 offers an overview of some of the main arguments developed throughout the book, summarising the themes covered while highlighting significant implications in theory, policy and practice. The conclusion chapter supports the position that children and young people are a diverse and complex social category, and understandings of childhood vary according to contexts, historical times and ideologies. Hence, there is a need to contextualise the UNCRC through various analysis frameworks and embrace the existence of multiple childhoods within and between societies.
