Child-Led Intersectional Praxis in Challenging Traditional Patriarchal Norms in Sierra Leone

  • Patricio Cuevas-Parra

摘要

Chapter 7 introduces the concept of child-led intersectional praxis, presenting evidence from research conducted in Sierra Leone in which children and young people engaged in child-led intersectional praxis to prevent child marriage. Despite gendered and age-based inequalities, they resisted traditional, patriarchal norms in order to influence change. The chapter discusses whether child-led intersectional praxis was a beneficial approach for reshaping the boundaries of participation in public decision-making and highlights the extent to which marginalised children and young people were able to conduct collective actions for social justice.
