Empirical Research

Since this is a new area of research with little empirical data to examine, new empirical data had to be created to support the information provided in previous chapters. This chapter synthesizes the chosen economic and social theories of aging, and the concept of place, as well as a review of four hypotheses that form the basis of this book. Due to the multi-disciplinary nature of the subject and the fact that housing is not a traditional economic product and does not operate in a vacuum, an original survey was created to quantify many qualitative aspects.
