Ecological Systems
摘要
The investigated region is divided into autochthonous and allochthonous ecosystems. Most of the area has an allochthonous ecosystem. In this area, the existence of plants is not possible, but we still find consumers. The existence of such animals depends on food imports. The import is done by wind, migratory birds, and caravans. Depending on the amount and frequency of precipitation as well as groundwater level and land use, the autochthonous ecosystems is divided into: (1) permanent natural oases, which are (a) inhabited by humans and represented by the traditional oasis complexes Dakhla, Kharga, and Baris, (b) uninhabited by humans such as Bir TarfawiBir Tarfawi, Bir SafsafBir Safsaf, and (2) permanent artificial oases that were created as part of land reclamation projects (East Oweinat Project: e.g., on the Selima Serir southwest of Bir TarfawiBir Tarfawi), and (3) episodic oases (e.g., in depressions and wadis of the Gilf KebirGilf Kebir and the north and east plateaus). The duration (one season or several years) of these oases depends on the amount of water stored in the soil.
