Integrating GIS in Business Education: Bridging Distance Learning and Spatial Analytics for Future Professionals

Despite a significant amount of literature over the last decade in the field of e-learning and an increasing number of scholarly findings in the integration of distance learning, there is still a limited body of works addressing the opportunity for GIS within e-learning systems for management studies. Many of the GIS tools are becoming important assets to business performance, and extending the course curricula to this field is of utmost importance for successful business professionals in the future. This paper explores the significance of using blended learning systems and offers them a solution through flipped classrooms for students to learn spatial analysis and Geographic Information Science. A new framework for teaching GIS was taking advantage of current technologies, consisting of a multi-tiered vision for distance learning and traditional learning techniques for business and management education.
