Gastrosophy—Fed Cities: The Perspective of Food in Urban Planning
摘要
With Gastrosophy: Fed Cities, LaPlasita—a collective focused on architecture and the design and execution of cultural projects- carries out projects, investigates, analyses, and proposes tools to improve the relationship between food and cities. We apply the concept of Gastrosophy to build a new ethical corpus to introduce the perspective of food in urban planning. Working on Gastrosophy and urban planning, it pursues two objectives: on the one hand, to make city dwellers aware of how we eat and how and why we should change our eating habits to better care for our health, our communities, and the planet; on the other hand, involve public actors, administrations and institutions in the development of the transition city towards a more sustainable, resilient, healthier, more biodiverse and supportive system. We design an urban-territorial transition that moves from the 20th’century city development model to another one in which to ruralise the metropolis, as Cerdà promoted ¨we must ruralise the urban and urbanise the rural¨ (Cerdà 1867). This way of approaching the production of territory and the city is within the parameters of what is now understood as regenerative urbanism. We, practitioners, apply utopian thinking to strengthen critical thinking and imagine possible better scenarios. From the field to the table, as a framework to develop different awareness-raising activities, with art as a mediator and urban planning projects.
