Pancreatic Neoplasms
摘要
Pancreatic tumors in children are extremely rare and quite different from the adult population both biologically and genetically. Their nonspecific presentation may lead to a delayed diagnosis and management. In general, their investigations include both blood testing and imaging with tumor biopsy reserved for specific cases. The radiological investigations include cross-sectional imaging as well as contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) which is particularly useful for smaller lesions. Surgical resection offers the best tumor survival in all types of pancreatic lesions, and the minimal invasive approach represents a feasible option in children. Unfortunately, the morbidity following surgery remains quite high. This chapter aims to describe the different subtypes of pancreatic tumors in children, their management and outcomes.
