In recent years, the development of driving cycles has seen a notable increase, driven by the necessity to describe driving patterns, classify driving styles, evaluate fuel/energy consumption, and reduce emissions, particularly in Latin America. Driving cycles represent the instantaneous decisions drivers make to navigate a physical driving environment, known as operation modes. In the case of Bucaramanga city, driving data from sixteen light vehicles and drivers were collected over a five-month period in 2021 using OBD-II technology via Bluetooth connection. This data was gathered without adhering to a specific route, allowing for a comprehensive driving behavior assessment. Utilizing the Micro Trips Fuel Based (MTFBM) method and analyzing nineteen characteristic parameters (CP), a Bucaramanga driving cycle was constructed, demonstrating relative differences of the CP values of less than 15%. The results indicate that drivers in the region tend to operate at low speeds and accelerations due to high traffic density.
