Lecture XVIII: An Introduction to Otto’s Calculus

In the seminal papers, Otto introduced a formal interpretation of the Wasserstein distance as a Riemannian distance in \(\mathcal {P}_2(\mathbb {R}^n)\) , using this interpretation as a guide to rigorous results on the large time asymptotics of solutions to porous medium equations.
