Not all wars are the same. Nor are all myths of war similar. Ordinary war is about territorial conquest or a defense of one’s homeland. But there are also myths about grand existential encounters. These are “cosmic wars,” imagined to be between ultimate forces of good and evil, order and disorder. Some of these can be malevolent indeed.
