The pandemic compelled significant art museums, galleries, and art fairs to innovate exhibition formats that presented them virtually to audiences in 2019. To enhance the usability and user experience of online platforms, interview guidelines were formulated based on a literature review and case analysis. Four experts, including planners from ART TAIPEI and executives involved in online exhibitions, were invited for interviews. The purpose was to understand the platform development process for online exhibitions in the post-pandemic era and to establish guidelines for future online art fairs. These results indicate that online exhibitions are no longer limited to physical exhibitions to visitors during the post-pandemic era. Rather, their goal is to enhance physical exhibitions by incorporating interactive elements. These include adding features such as ‘following’ and ‘collection’ options and introducing filters that allow viewers to quickly refine their preferences. These elements enhance the online exhibition experience and platform usability, enabling viewers to swiftly find their targets during physical exhibitions. For format, online exhibitions should be based on a two-dimensional map to provide visitors with a sense of spatial orientation and maintain a clear direction during browsing. In addition, 3D model exhibitions can serve as promotional highlights to attract a broader audience. In summary, future online platforms for art fairs should transition into hybrid forms of virtual and physical exhibitions, and incorporating interactive functionalities to engage in physical exhibitions is crucial.
