A slider is a user interface component that allows users to select a value by moving a handle along a straight track. We propose a three-slider design utilizing haptic feedback. We conducted an experiment involving 12 people using the proposed sliders and collected data on task completion time, mental workload, and the participants’ self-reported preferences. The results showed that the participants preferred the slider with haptic feedback to the normal slider without haptic feedback, with a lower workload, although it did not affect the operation time. In particular, we found that a slider that provides haptic feedback when the direction of the slider manipulation changes requires the least mental workload and is the most preferred.
