摘要

The article considers the theory and practice of using storytelling technologies and moral education of students’ personalities in teaching foreign languages. Telling stories has been part of humanity throughout the existence of civilization, and that is why storytelling is so effective in modern educational practices, in particular in teaching, since it is an integral part of the process of intercultural communication. The authors proposed a detailed definition of the concept of storytelling as a significant practical value. Storytelling for the authors is a certain form of interactive intercultural communication, used in various options for managing opinion and interaction in certain groups, where social norms, values and ideologies are «encoded and encrypted». The philosophical concepts that determine the capabilities of storytelling technology for the moral education of students when teaching foreign languages are presented. The effectiveness of integrating storytelling technology and moral education of students’ personalities while teaching foreign languages is based on the cognitive, emotional and behavioral connection in the audience. The authors provide examples of the practical application of storytelling technology (classical, active, digital storytelling) and its modern tools (grammatical rules, introduction of vocabulary, fairy tales, description of a picture, dialogue improvisation, character mediation, fantastic hypotheses, adding new opinions, change of author’s position, interview, book trailer, video, scribing, mind map, infographics, etc.). The authors’ contribution to the research is the development of the program «Bizarre imagery, interference, and distinctiveness: storytelling techniques for moral upbringing of students’ personality», aimed at identifying and justifying the effective moral education of students when teaching foreign languages. It has been proved that there is a relationship between the use of storytelling technology and the moral education of students’ personalities when teaching foreign languages. The process of implementation serves effectively, since students have the opportunity for freedom of thoughts and actions and consciously perceive the regulatory function of moral norms in relations between people.
