摘要

This research explores the integration of digital storytelling as a means to teach creative writing based on commercial texts to master’s degree students majoring in PR. The article delineates the distinction between freely creative and streamlined storytelling, emphasizing the advantages of goal-oriented streamlined storytelling in the context of teaching PR students. Streamlined storytelling techniques can help capture and maintain audience attention effectively, a crucial aspect in PR writing. By teaching students to structure narratives in a streamlined fashion, they can learn how to engage readers quickly and sustain their interest throughout the text. The study has a special focus on developing an algorithm-based approach to enhance students’ creative writing skills through digital storytelling. The educational experiment involved an 8-week teaching process, incorporating Presentation-Practice-Production (PPP) English Teaching Method and the implementation of a digital storytelling algorithm consisting of seven key steps. The control experiment aimed to compare the level of creative writing skills between the pre-training and post-training stages. The results, illustrated graphically, demonstrated an increase in both accuracy and creativity, indicating a positive change in the development of writing skills. The chosen StoryJumper platform demonstrated significant potential and is fully suitable for creating commercial texts. The findings emphasize the importance of aligning digital storytelling with curriculum objectives and the careful management of session durations to optimize classroom effectiveness. This research serves as a valuable contribution to the development of creativity in writing for PR students and provides insight into the practical implementation of digital storytelling in language education.
