Digital Storytelling with Visual Arts in Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language

This paper aims to explore the implementation of digital storytelling techniques in teaching Russian as a foreign language. The study highlights the significance of digital tools in enhancing vocabulary acquisition, narrative construction, and student engagement. Additionally, the integration of Russian visual arts into the learning process is examined for its educational value. The paper reviews the historical background of this approach, discussing its effectiveness in educational settings. A methodology for teaching Russian as a foreign language using Russian visual arts storytelling is proposed, which includes the implementation of a universal digital storytelling algorithm and the development of visual arts educational modules. The digital component is implemented through interactive online whiteboards for teaching vocabulary and organising story structures. Statistical analysis reveals a noticeable improvement in students’ communication and digital skills. The study findings highlights the success of utilising digital storytelling with the integration of Russian visual arts in the education process.
