In recent times, there has been a rapid increase in the number of decentralized applications operating on public blockchains. The focus has shifted from questioning the existence of blockchain technology to finding quick ways to generate profits, and eventually determining which applications benefit the most from utilizing blockchain. This article discusses a distributed system that has a low barrier to entry and is specifically designed to incentivize scientific research directly. The proposed system, based on public blockchain, allows organizations and individual scientists to engage directly. They can create a set of well-defined complex computational problems and invite others willing to invest time and effort to find solutions. Because these problems pertain to universal scientific work, the incentive is open to contributions from all individuals and organizations.
