A large-scale environmental model—the Danish Eulerian Model (DEM) has been implemented in parallel on the new petascale supercomputer DISCOVERER, installed last year in Sofia Tech Park, Bulgaria. The machine is part of the emerging supercomputing network under development by the European High-Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU). As a part of the benchmarking process many test runs were performed on different configurations of the cluster and modes of the nodes. The results of a number of scalability experiments with the unified version of the Danish Eulerian Model–UNI-DEM on DISCOVERER are presented in this paper. They are compared with similar earlier experiments performed on the Mare Nostrum III supercomputer (petascale too) at Barcelona Supercomputing Centre—the most powerful supercomputer in Spain by that time, upgraded currently to the pre-exascale Mare Nostrum V, also part of the EuroHPC JU infrastructure.

摘要
