Diversity, equity, and inclusion programs are essential for building resilient leadership in organizations and societies, including Christian institutions. Resilient leaders adapt to disruptive changes and overcome emergent setbacks, hence increasing the survival of their organizations. Among the leaders mentioned in the Bible, Moses stands out as one of the outstanding and tenacious leaders who welcomed varied people of other tribes under his leadership. As a leader, Moses endured numerous adversities including encounters with a difficult pharaoh while negotiating to free his people from slavery, trials throughout his freedom journey through the wilderness, rebellion time and again from his people, and the overwhelming burden of overseeing the emancipation and exodus of his people from Egypt to the promised land of Canaan. The successful emergence of Moses from recurrent adversity and subsequent recovery each time is a perfect representation of leader resilience. This chapter proposes that Moses’ leadership behaviors are prototypical of resilient and inclusive leadership, and suggests that adversities of similar magnitude and effect such as those in the days of Moses have replicated themselves in subsequent millennia, more so in contemporary times. Consequently, the relevance and applicability of Moses’ leadership style is significant today even as it was in that epoch, and would serve as a model that can be effectively applied in various spheres of contemporary society in the context of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
