As a discipline, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Spirituality (DEI) invite leaders on a journey to embrace the focus and implementation of DEI in ways that honor spiritual principles and integrate them into the growth of leadership skills and followership practices. The main topics of discussion in this chapter will be the lessons drawn from the biblical text utilizing Genesis 1:26, Luke 22:14–30, and I Corinthians 12:21–27 as well as the practices of an inclusive kingdom and a table that is available to individuals of all backgrounds, traditions, and abilities – emphasizing the importance of the spiritual values of integrity, honesty, and humility for the effectiveness and durability of leadership. On the other side, the characteristics of ineffectual leaders are at odds with the moral values of honesty and modesty, as well as the traditions of treating others with respect, compassion, and gratitude.
