Nurturing Sexual Well-Being in Islamic Educational Settings: Strategies for Supporting Muslim Learners

  • Toltu Tufa

摘要

This chapter explores how sexualised behaviours intersect with well-being in Islamic school settings. It aims to provide educators with practical strategies to restore and enhance ‘Āfiyah (well-being) among Muslim learners. By re-acknowledging the challenges posed by cultural, religious, and social influences as unique assets, educators can adopt a strengths-based approach to address sexualised behaviours more effectively. The proposed communication scripts offer a framework for educators to navigate these sensitive situations while emphasising trauma awareness, the differentiation of behaviour from the student, and the importance of immediate, effective responses. Additionally, the chapter highlights the crucial role psychologists can play in delivering meaningful crisis interventions, thus contributing to a more holistic and balanced approach to meeting the multifaceted needs of Muslim students in alignment with their faith, cultural background, and trauma-sensitive practices.
