The anterior commissure (AC) connects the basal frontal, basal temporal, and medial occipital lobes across the midline. It passes between the columns of the fornix to project controlaterally, running together with the ansa peduncularis. Posteriorly, AC runs lateral to the occipital horn. Anteriorly, AC runs in the temporal stem then, in the frontal lobe, runs basally.
