Ventral Cingulum
摘要
The ventral cingulum (VC) connects the entorhinal and parahippocampal cortex with the retrosplenium, cuneus, and lingual gyrus, having an anterior-posterior course. The anterior termination of the VC is in the entorhinal cortex: Along its course, it may contribute to the perforant pathway with fibers crossing to the subiculum. Posteriorly, the VC extends to the lingual gyrus and the retrosplenial cingulate gyrus, passing inferior to the medial occipital longitudinal tract and sharing cortical terminations with the dorsal cingulum in the retrosplenial cortex, extending to the cuneus.
