Pelvic floor disorder is a common functional condition in women over the age of 50, resulting from a lack of support for the pelvic organs, which can significantly impair quality of life. While the diagnosis is primarily clinical, MRI is performed in complex cases. The cooperation of the patient is essential to perform a good examination as repetition of several pushes is needed to achieve complete rectal evacuation of the gel and fully identify all existing prolapses. Interpretation should be more functional than biometric, using a grading system that aligns with the local clinicians’ practices. The pubococcygeal line (PCL) serves as the reference for diagnosing vertical prolapse. Any of the anterior (urinary), middle (gynecological), or posterior (digestive) compartments can be affected by prolapse, sometimes in combination. The MRI report should be both comprehensive and clear. MRI can also be performed to diagnose postsurgical complications.

Pelvic floor disorder is a common functional condition in women over the age of 50, resulting from a lack of support for the pelvic organs, which can significantly impair quality of life. Interpretation should be more functional than biometric, using a grading system that aligns with the local clinicians’ practices. The pubococcygeal line (PCL) serves as the reference for diagnosing vertical prolapse.
