Multiple Reoperations for Recurrent Meningiomas

Meningiomas show tendency to recur even after gross-total resection with and without adjuvant radiation treatment, and even more time and after several years, requiring multiple reoperations. While the management of meningiomas at first recurrence (surgical and radiotherapic) has been discussed in many studies, the management of multiple recurrences is not defined and varies among institutions, with no defined guidelines. This chapter discusses the main risk factors for multiple recurrences of meningiomas, the indications for repeated operations, and the limits of the surgical resection.
