Biomolecular-Related Medical Therapy for Meningiomas

Patients with progressive or recurrent meningiomas failing all surgical and radiotherapeutic treatment options or patients with meningiomas in surgically challenging areas, such as the skull base, represent an unmet need group as the efficacy of systemic treatments is limited. Advances in basic research have revealed that some molecular features are correlated with prognosis, leading to identification of subgroups needing different therapeutic approaches. Potential new targets of therapy are represented by some driver mutations or alterations in the microenvironment. A number of ongoing trials on targeted agents and immunotherapy are being performed with promising results.
